The Seoul Metropolitan Government is implementing special transportation measures on Thursday to help students in the capital who will be taking the national college entrance exam get to their testing sites on time.
Dozens of additional subway trains will operate from 6 a.m. for four hours, with extra trains on standby to handle a potential influx of passengers or delays caused by technical malfunctions.
The waiting times for city and neighborhood buses will also be shortened between 6 a.m. to 8:10 a.m. and over 19,000 more taxis will be in service from 4 a.m.
In addition, Seoul city will provide free shuttle services to test sites from subway stations and bus stops.
The shuttles will be equipped with hand sanitizer and masks to keep students safe from the coronavirus.
To reduce morning traffic on exam day, all local government and public offices will start work an hour later at 10 a.m.
The College Scholastic Ability Test will be held Thursday from 8:40 a.m. until 5:40 p.m.
Some 106,000 students are set to take the exam at 249 testing centers across Seoul.
