Seoul city has made smaller bicycles that will be added to its public bike rental system for younger riders aged 13 years and up.
Starting Monday, younger users can access the smaller and lighter Seoul Bikes or "Ttaereungi" in the eastern Songpa and Gangdong districts as well as Eunpyeong District in the northwest of the capital.
Seoul's public bikes can be rented at unmanned stations across the city.
Previously, they were only available for those aged 15 or older.
The new bicycles have 20-inch wheels with yellow rims and weigh 16 kilograms, compared to the original bikes that have 24-inch wheels with green rims and weigh 18 kg.
The city government said it plans to add 2,000 of the small bikes citywide by January.
