Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon says a new rule is set to be introduced under which city officials charged with sexual crimes will be expelled from their post.
Oh called for the so-called "one strike out" policy during a press briefing at Seoul City Hall on Tuesday, while formally apologizing to the victim of alleged sexual harassment by late Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon.
Park died last July in an apparent suicide after his former secretary filed a sexual harassment complaint against him.
The victim is soon expected to return to work at City Hall.
Oh, who was elected to a thrid term in Seoul's mayoral by-election earlier this month, also pledged to protect victims of sexual harassment and violence.
He also promised a zero tolerance policy against secondary victimization.
