Mayor Oh Se-hoon says he will work from the heart, not the mind, to make Seoul a fair city.

He made the pledge Thursday during his inauguration ceremony at Dongdaemun Design Plaza.

Oh said he will take on new challenges so that Seoul also becomes a "win-win city" that benefits everyone.

In line with this, he made five pledges, including finding a way to balance COVID-19 measures while improving people's livelihoods, focusing on youth policies, stabilizing housing prices, and creating a city where single households can live happily.

Oh, backed by the main conservative opposition People Power Party, was reelected as Seoul mayor in the April 7 by-elections.

He filled the post left vacant by his predecessor Park Won-soon, who died last year in an apparent suicide amid allegations of sexual harassment.

Just a couple of weeks on the job, Oh has already proposed the idea of using coronavirus self-test kits to try and normalize the operation of businesses, schools, and religious facilities in the capital as the pandemic wears on.
