Weather experts are reminding people to stay hydrated and reduce outdoor activities to protect themselves as steamy conditions persist.

The Korea Meteorological Administration said it expects the mercury to rise to the high 20s Friday afternoon, with "feels like" temperatures hitting north of 30 degrees Celsius, particularly in the capital region.

The heat index could rise even higher to 33 degrees in Anseong and Yangpyeong in Gyeonggi Province, where heat wave advisories have been issued.

Similar weather is forecast through Saturday.

Children, the elderly, pregnant women and people with chronic illness should take extra precautions amid the heat.
