Schools in the greater Seoul area will suspend in-person classes and revert back to online learning for two weeks from next Wednesday.
Education Minister Yoo Eun-hae announced the move Friday in line with Level 4 social distancing that will take effect in the capital next week.
The ministry said it still plans to resume face-to-face classes in the fall.
All grade school teachers are expected to be vaccinated in time for the start of the second semester in about 40 days.
