Seoul Education Superintendent Cho Hee-yeon has been summoned by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials for questioning over allegations of abuse of power.
Cho is suspected of abusing his power in 2018 to push for the preferential hiring of five teachers who had been fired for election law violations.
Speaking to reporters upon his arrival at the anti-corruption agency's building Tuesday morning, Cho denied all allegations against him.
He said the special recruitment in question was carried out in accordance with the law.
Cho added he will sincerely cooperate with the probe.
His case is the anti-corruption agency's first investigation since it was launched in January.
