Seoul is said to have experienced in September the best air quality since records began.
According to the city's atmospheric information website Monday, the average density of ultrafine dust in the capital last month was 7 micrograms per cubic meter, the lowest since 2014.
The previous low was 10 micrograms per cubic meter recorded in September 2018.
The fine dust density also fell to the lowest level at 15 micrograms per cubic meter.
The records come as the Seoul Metropolitan Government continues to work to improve air quality through fine dust reduction measures.
These efforts as well as the drop in the use of coal fuel during the pandemic likely played a major role in the absence of dust particles in the air.
