An internal medicine physician in Daegu has become the first health care worker in South Korea to succumb to the novel coronavirus.
The Daegu city government said the 60-year-old doctor, who was hospitalized at Kyungpook National University Hospital, died Friday morning.
He had a history of diabetes and high blood pressure.
The doctor tested positive for COVID-19 last month and reportedly contracted the diease while receiving outpatient treatment in February.■
