A new cluster of coronavirus infections has emerged from a campground in Gangwon Province, putting authorities on edge again.
There are renewed concerns over the spread of the virus over the summer vacation season as people are flocking to outdoor leisure sites to get away from crowds but not following quarantine guidelines amid eased social distancing.
The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday that six of 18 people part of the same group that stayed at a camping site in Hongcheon last week have tested positive for COVID-19.
Health authorities said more cases may emerge as the patients did not properly wear faces masks while taking part in group meals and other activities during their three-day stay.
