U.S. Forces Korea says seven more American service members and a Department of Defense civilian contractor have tested positive for the coronavirus upon their recent arrival to South Korea.
The latest cases bring the total number of infections related to the American military here to 152.
USFK said in a release Thursday that three of the service members landed at Osan Air Base in Pyeongtaek on a U.S. government-chartered flight, while the others arrived at Incheon International Airport on commercial flights.
None of them came into contact with other people as they were immediately sent to isolation facilities upon entry.
USFK has not recorded an internal case of infection since mid-April.
Amid heightened concerns, the American military said beginning August 21, it will require all soldiers and family members to get tested and show they are virus free before leaving the U.S. and self-quarantine for two weeks before they travel.
