Health authorities in Jeju are on high alert as hundreds of thousands of travelers are expected to visit the resort island during the upcoming Chuseok holiday.
The Jeju Tourism Organization said on Wednesday at least 198,000 people are planning to visit the island from September 30 to October 4.
There are major concerns the upcoming holiday could lead to another rebound in cases as people usually travel to their hometowns and popular vacation spots, leading some to even call for special movement restrictions.
Jeju officials are requesting all visitors to abide by quarantine rules and social distancing guidelines and avoid visiting high-risk facilities during their stay on the island.
