South Korea's special travel advisory for the world has been extended again amid a continued rise in coronavirus infections in most countries.

The foreign ministry announced Friday the advisory will remain in place for at least another month.

The government first issued the travel alert on March 23 and has continued to extend on a monthly basis.

The ministry said the latest decision was made given the World Health Organization maintains the current health crisis as a pandemic, while travel restrictions continue worldwide.

The government is urging South Koreans who plan to travel overseas to either cancel or postpone their trips, and for those abroad to comply with local quarantine guidelines.
