A kitten diagnosed with COVID-19 -- the first known case of coronavirus in an animal in South Korea -- has been released from quarantine.
The Jinju health office in South Gyeongsang Province revealed Thursday that the three-month-old kitten has recovered from its infection and was symptom-free.
The cat tested positive for the virus on January 24.
It was one of three cats being cared for by a COVID-19-infected mother and daughter at a religious facility in the southeastern city.
More than 100 people were confirmed to have contracted the virus after visiting the facility last month.
The mother and daughter are also said to have made full recoveries.
