Daegu, once a COVID-19 hotspot in South Korea, has recorded more than 100 new coronavirus infections in a single day, the highest in over a year.
Local officials announced Thursday the southeastern city confirmed 121 new infections from the previous day, pushing it total case tally to 11,951.
The last time Daegu's daily tally surpassed 100 was on March 11, 2020, during the first wave of the pandemic.
Of the latest cases, 75 have been linked to a church and 14 to a taekwondo gym.
Daegu is currently under Level 3 social distancing rules, but restrictions could toughened to curb community spread.
