The government could announce changes to social distancing levels later this week amid a recent spike in new coronavirus infections.
Health ministry spokesman Son Young-rae said a briefing on the matter will be held on Friday.
The toughest Level 4 social distancing rules are being enforced in the greater Seoul area, and Level 3 measure for most all other regions, until October 3.
The virus restrictions limit the size of private social gatherings and sets enforces a 10 p.m. curfew for restaurants and cafes.
The official did not elaborate on the potential changes that could be made but said the COVID-19 situation will be monitored throughout the week before any decisions are made.
Experts say current virus curbs will likely be extended for at least another two weeks.
