Over 2.2 million people in the country have received COVID-19 vaccine booster shots as of Wednesday, according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevent Agency.
They include older adults aged 50 and up and patients at elderly care facilities.
By age group, those in their 80s had the highest additional vaccination rate of 25.5 percent followed by people in their 70s, 60s and 50s.
The rollout of booster shots began a month ago, and are also being administered to frontline medical workers and patients with underlying conditions.
The KDCA said will soon review additional jabs for other age groups.
