People who have been hospitalized for COVID-19 vaccine side effects, such as anaphylaxis and myocarditis, will be exempt from the government's vaccine pass system.
From Monday, relevant individuals can get a certificate of exemption issued via the KDCA's COOV smartphone app, or by visiting a community health center.
The certificate can be presented to access public spaces, including places deemed "high risk."
Under the vaccine pass system, people must show either proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test result to enter multiuse facilities, including restaurants and cafes.
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency earlier decided to exclude from the system patients who had to postpone or cancel their second vaccine shot because of serious side effects after their first dose.
