Fine dust reduction measures covering the capital region have been extended through Saturday as air quality continues to remain at "bad" levels.
The environment ministry said the measures will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and also apply to Sejong City, South Chuncheong Province and North Jeolla Province.
Local governments will increase street cleaning, enforce shortened work hours at construction sites and be banned from hosting open air events, among other dust reduction efforts.
Health authorities recommend people keep their masks on when outside, while children, the elderly and those with respiratory illnesses should refrain from outdoor activities.
