Cold wave advisories were issued early Tuesday for northeastern and northwestern Seoul as temperatures dropped below the freezing point.
The Korea Meteorological Administration's advisories came as the morning low temperature was expected to drop below minus 12 degrees Celsius for two straight days.
Affected regions include the districts of Nowon, Seongbuk, Dobong, Seongdong, Mapo, Yongsan and Jongno.
Similar alerts were issued for parts of Incheon, while cold wave warnings covered Paju, Pocheon and Yeoncheon in Gyeonggi Province.
The KMA forecast showed frigid conditions through the end of this week.
