The Olympic flame arrives in Japan.
The torch relay for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics is scheduled to start Thursday as scheduled in northeastern Fukushima prefecture.
But the event will be held without a torch, torchbearers and the public.
According to Kyodo News, there will be an Olympic flame that arrived on March 12 from Greece.
It will be carried in a lantern and transported by a vehicle along what are expected to be empty roadsides,
Kyodo said the new name to replace "Torch Relay" will be "Torch Visits."
Earlier, the International Olympic Committee said it would wait four more weeks before announcing its decision on whether to hold the Summer Games as planned.■
