The Wimbledon tennis tournament has been canceled due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Organizers announced Wednesday that the summer event at the All England Club on the outskirts of London is being scrapped this year.
Wimbledon was scheduled to be played from June 29 to July 12.
It's the first time since World War II that the oldest Grand Slam tennis tournament will not be played.
Wimbledon is also the first major tennis championship in 2020 to be completely wiped out because of COVID-19.■
