Ryu Hyun-jin of the Toronto Blue Jays (L) and Kim Kwang-hyun of the St. Louis Cardinals
For the first time in Major League Baseball's postseason history, two South Korean pitchers will start on the same day this week.
Ryu Hyun-jin of the Toronto Blue Jays will be on the mound for Game 2 of the American League Wild Card Series against the Tampa Bay Rays in St. Petersburg, Florida.
The game will start at 5 a.m. Thursday, Korea time.
An hour later, Kim Kwang-hyun of the St. Louis Cardinals will open the National League Wild Card Series against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park.
During the regular season, Ryu and Kim started on the same day four times, and both notched victories in their final regular season outing last Thursday to become the first pair of Korean pitchers to win on the same day in the majors in 15 years.
