North Korea’s Sohae satellite launching site
North Korea says it carried out "another crucial test" at its satellite launch site.
The North's Korean Central News Agency said today that the test took place last night from 10:41 p.m. to 10:48 p.m. at the Sohae Satellite Launching Ground, also known as the Dongchang-ri site.
It did not specify what was tested.
The regime said the results of the test will be used to strengthen its "reliable strategic nuclear deterrent."
Friday's test came about a week after the North conducted what it called "a very important test" at the satellite launch site.
It sparked concern that the regime could be preparing to launch a long-range rocket.
South Korea confirmed that Pyongyang tested a rocket engine last week.
The tests come as the North has warned Washington to come up with a new proposal for their stalled nuclear talks by the end of the year.■
