North Korean health officials are conducting checks on citizens to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.
North Korea has put ministerial officials in charge of preventing the spread of the new coronavirus.
The Rodong Sinmun said Tuesday the ruling Workers' Party has taken new measures to help relevant units under Pyongyang's central emergency quarantine office to boost capacity, organize business, find any loopholes in preventive efforts and draw up thorough countermeasures.
Citing leadership of responsible workers of the cabinet secretariat and related ministries, it explained those units have become stronger.
Responsible workers apparently refer to high-ranking officials heading ministries and government organizations.
The paper added that the North is also deploying around 30,000 officials daily to conduct checks on its people and increase public hygiene.■
