North Korea will likely hold a military parade on Saturday to mark the 75th founding anniversary of the ruling Workers' Party.

A South Korean military source said Friday that final preparations are being made for the parade.

The source added that leader Kim Jong-un could also deliver an address during the event, citing signs of the North`s state TV station preparing a broadcast for the first time since 2017.

The event has drawn attention as the regime could show off new strategic weapons, including an intercontinental ballistic missile and a submarine-launched ballistic missile, that leader Kim pledged to unveil in his New Year`s message.

Earlier this week, Seoul's Defense Minister Suh Wook told a parliamentary audit that Pyongyang is expected to mobilize strategic weapons in a show of force while the unification ministry noted the possibility of a display of newly developed weapons.
