Seoul will join cities around the world on Saturday and turn off its light for one hour to celebrate Earth Hour and help raise awareness about climate change.

The global lights out campaign is led by the World Wide Fund for Nature.

Seoul city government buildings and major landmarks in the capital, including N Seoul Tower, Namdaemun and Hangang bridges, will go dark from 8:30 p.m.

Seoul City Hall and district offices do not plan to take part as they are operating coronavirus situation rooms.

The annual global event encourages people to turn off lights to combat climate change and show their commitment to protecting nature.■
