The United States could consider "diplomacy" with North Korea if it leads to denuclearization.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki made the remark Wednesday during a press briefing in response to a question about how Washington would respond to further provocations by Pyongyang.
"We have a clear objective as it relates to North Korea, which is denuclearizing the Korean peninsula," Psaki told reporters.
She added the U.S. is continuing to enforce sanctions while consulting with its allies.
The Joe Biden administration is in the process of developing a new approach toward the North Korean regime amid stalled nuclear negotiations, and is known to be in the final stages of reviewing its policies on the North.
