President Moon Jae-in is set to embark on his first trip to the United States since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

Moon will leave for Washington on Wednesday afternoon.

Cheong Wa Dae spokesman Chung Man-ho said the president is scheduled to hold his first face-to-face summit with President Joe Biden on Friday.

The two leaders are expected to discuss the situation on the Korean Peninsula, North Korea and the COVID-19 pandemic, among other issues.

They will also hold a joint press conference.

While in the U.S. capital, Moon will also visit Arlington National Cemetery and sit down with Vice President Kamala Harris and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The spokesman added that the president may also travel to Atlanta, Georgia, to visit a plant run by South Korea's SK Innovation before he returns to Seoul on Sunday.
