Health Minister Kwon Deok-cheol says he is worried about a possible resurgence in coronavirus infections once social distancing guidelines are relaxed next month.
Kwon urged the public on Tuesday to keep following antivirus guidelines after rules are eased, including the continued use of face masks in public spaces.
He noted the dangers of being complacent, saying it could lead to new outbreaks, while pointing out that cluster infections are still emerging from schools, workplaces, restaurants, singing rooms and churches.
Kwon pledged to make preparations so that vaccinations during the second half of the year go smoothly in order to reach herd immunity by November.
Nearly 15.1 million people, or 29.4 percent of the population, have gotten their first shot of a vaccine.
More than 4.2 million people have been fully vaccinated against the disease.
