Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon has promised to improve the welfare of elderly residents in the capital.
He made the pledge Friday during a ceremony at the Korea Senior Citizens Association in celebration of Parents' Day on May 8.
Oh noted how he had seniors in mind when he previously served as mayor more than 10 years ago.
He also highlighted how Seoul was the first in the country to be named a United Nations Age-Friendly City.
But he also acknowledged that he did not do enough to support them during his previous term.
Oh promised to come up with new plans and carry them out, without elaborating.
