The head of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency reiterated Wednesday that workers and patients under the age of 65 at convalescent hospitals and nursing home facilities will be the first to get coronavirus vaccines when the country's vaccination drive starts on Friday.
In a meeting with experts at KDCA headquarters, Jeong Eun-kyeong said the group will receive the AstraZeneca vaccine.
She said preparations were also being made so reporters can interview the first person in the country who will get the shot, which has yet to be determined.
But Jeong stressed the press opportunity will be carried out in a safe manner, given that nursing facilities restrict entry to outsiders.
The KDCA chief did not comment on claims that there will not be one person but rather multiple people who will receive the first jabs simultaneously.
