North Korea has slammed the U.S. decision to lift all restrictions on South Korean missiles.
The North's state-run Korean Central News Agency ran an article Monday that criticized the move was a "stark reminder" of Washington's hostile approach towards Pyongyang.
It was the first response to the termination of the Revised Missile Guidelines, allowing South Korea to make missiles with any size payload and flight range.
The article noted that the U.S. has repeatedly branded measures taken by North Korea for "self-defense" as violating United Nations resolutions, but "grants its allies unlimited right to missile development."
It went on to say that the U.S. is "engrossed in confrontation despite its lip-service to dialogue."
President Moon Jae-in and President Joe Biden agreed to end the missile guidelines during their first summit earlier this month.
With the U.S. approval to lift the 42-year-old restriction, Seoul can now develop ballistic missiles capable of reaching targets far beyond the Korean Peninsula.
