  • ≡ Chuseok Day Traffic Begins To Build Up Heading In, Out Of Seoul

    [Anchor] On this Chuseok Day, holiday traffic is expected to reach its peak as many continue to travel in and out of the capital region to spend a time of thanksgiving with family and friends. The Korea Expressway Corporation says over 5.7 million vehicles will hit the roads, with 510,000 leaving Seoul for other parts of the country during the morning hours, with a similar number heading into the metropolitan area. Claudia Kim has more. [Report] More and more cars are starting to hit the nation's expressways as people continue to head to and from their hometowns for Chuseok. Delays are expected to peak in the afternoon around 4 to 5 p.m. without letting up until after 11 p.m. The southbound Seohaean Expressway is the most congested at this hour with cars backed up along some 25 kilometers. On the Gyeongbu Expressway, cars are backed up in pockets on the southbound lanes spanning some 18 kilometers. Currently, heading out of Seoul it's expected to take eight hours to get to Busan, 5 hours and 50 minutes to reach Gwangju and 3 hours and 20 minutes to Gangneung.   • ≡ Moon Arrives In New York For Trump Summit, UN Meeting

    President Moon Jae-in has arrived in New York for a bilateral summit with U.S. President Donald Trump that is partly aimed at brokering a second U.S.-North Korea summit. The two leaders are set to meet Monday, local time, on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly. Moon is expected to brief Trump about his recent summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and the latest developments in inter-Korean ties and discussions on denuclearization. After his three-day trip to Pyongyang last week, Moon said Kim expressed his wish to finish denuclearization at an early date, possibly before 2021 when Trump's first term ends, and focus on the North's economic development. Moon is also slated to deliver a keynote speech at a U.N. meeting on Wednesday where he will likely push for more international support on Korean Peninsula issues.■ [2018.09.24]

  • ≡ Trump Seeks More 'Reciprocal Relationship' With Japan

    U.S. President Donald Trump says he wants a more "reciprocal relationship" with Japan as the U.S. has done much to help the country. Trump tweeted on Sunday that he is heading to New York for the 73rd session of the U.N. General Assembly, where he will meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the sidelines. He said he and Abe will hold talks about military and trade later in the evening, adding "It will all work out!" The two leaders are scheduled to hold a bilateral summit on Wednesday. ■ [2018.09.24]

  • ≡ Tiger Woods Scores First Win In Five Years With Tour Championship

    Tiger Woods has scored his first victory in more than five years. He completed a two-shot win at the Tour Championship at Atlanta's East Lake Golf Course on Sunday to crown a fairy tale comeback after a near two-year absence, claiming the 80th title of his career. Woods, who finished with an 11-under-par aggregate 269, raised his arms in delight after the victory, with several thousand fans ringing the green roaring their appreciation. The 42-year-old later revealed he had been close to tears on the final green as he prepared for the par putt to complete the win.■ [2018.09.24]
