U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will visit Seoul next week for a "two-plus-two" meeting with their South Korean counterparts.
They will arrive next Wednesday, following a stop in Japan, according to the foreign and defense ministries.
It will be the first visit to the country by senior officials in the Joe Biden administration, and the first meeting of its kind since October 2016.
Blinken and Austin are scheduled to hold talks with Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong and Defense Minister Suh Wook, with cooperation on North Korea and denuclearization at the top of the agenda.
During their stay, Seoul and Washington may also formally sign their new defense cost-sharing agrement that was reached earlier this week.
