Foreign ministers of South Korea, the United States and Japan are set to hold trilateral talks on the sidelines of a security forum in Munich, Germany.
Minister Kang Kyung-wha will sit down with her U.S. and Japanese counterparts Mike Pompeo and Toshimitsu Motegi on Saturday.
Expected agendas during their talks include joint efforts to resume stalled nuclear negotiations with North Korea, and rising tensions in the Middle East which sprang from the conflict between the U.S. and Iran.
The three could also discuss ongoing efforts to contain the new coronavirus outbreak.
Kang and Motegi are also scheduled to hold bilateral talks, during which Kang is expected to renew calls for Tokyo to retract its export restrictions and possibly discuss the 14 South Koreans on board the Diamond Princess cruise ship quarantined in Japan.■
