Around 14,000 people have died due to influenza in the U.S. this season, making this outbreak far worse than the novel coronavirus so far.
According to preliminary estimates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the flu has killed an estimated 14,000 people with 250,000 people hospitalized so far this flu season.
The CDC said that while the overall hospitalization rate is similar to other seasons, this season has been particularly hard on young people, causing 92 deaths in children.■
