A COVID-19 patient in Italy is being hospitalized.
Italy reported 345 new coronavirus deaths on Tuesday, bringing its death toll to 2,503.
According to Italian health authorities, the total number of confirmed cases rose to more than 31,500 from nearly 28,000 the previous day.
The national figure for COVID-19 patients increased 12.6 percent, marking the slowest rate of increase since February 21 when the first case of community spread was reported in the country.
Italy's number of patients and fatalities is now the second highest next to China, while its mortality rate stands at 7.9 percent, about eight times higher than in South Korea.■
