The British government says it will scrap a 14-day quarantine rule for arrivals from a number of countries deemed "lower risk" for the coronavirus starting July 10.

They include France, Spain and Italy.

The government said the full list of exempted countries will be announced Friday.

The United States, which has the highest number of infections and deaths in the world, is unlikely to be among them.

Britain will also exempt several countries from its advice against overseas travel from Saturday, meaning U.K. tourists can once again go abroad on vacation.

The announced changes only apply to England and not Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
