The first lady of Brazil, Michelle Bolsanaro, has tested positive for the coronavirus after her husband spent two weeks in quarantine with the infectious disease.

President Jair Bolsanaro's office said Thursday that the first lady "is in good health and will follow all established protocols."

The announcement came days after the president said he was over his illness and had resumed his normal work routine, although he said he felt a little weak and was taking antibiotics.

The Brazilian leader has faced criticism for his handling of the pandemic as the country has the second-highest number of infections and deaths in the world after the United States.

Five of Bolsonaro's ministers have also tested positive for COVID-19.
