The U.S. State Department has raised its travel advisory for Israel to the second highest level due to the recent surge in violence between the Jewish state and Palestinians.
The department issued a statement Thursday recommending Americans "reconsider travel to Israel due to armed conflict and civil unrest."
U.S. citizens were also advised not to travel to the West Bank and Gaza due to the unrest.
The advisories came as Israel pounded Gaza with missile strikes and deployed ground troops to the border as Palestinians fired back with a barrage of rockets.
The death toll on the fourth day of renewed clashes topped 100, according to foreign media.
