The U.S. Defense Department has called for cooperation with allies and partner countries to deter North Korean threats and potential Chinese aggression.
The Pentagon made the request in its review of its global defense posture released Monday.
The review included the department's decision to permanently station a previously rotational Apache attack helicopter unit and artillery division headquarters in South Korea.
It gave no further details.
The review assessed the U.S. military's defense posture across major regions outside the U.S., and developed near-term posture adjustments and analysis on longer-term strategic matters.
