The United Arab Emirates is slashing its working week to four-and-a-half days starting next month.
The UAE's state-run WAM news agency announced that from January 1, government employees would work a half-day on Friday, the traditional Islamic holy day, and then take Saturday and Sunday off.
It also touted the country as the first in the world to introduce a national working week shorter than the global five-day week.
