KCDC begins research on coronavirus cure
The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says it has begun research to develop medication and a vaccine for the new coronavirus using blood samples and antibodies taken from infected individuals.
The KCDC said it started supporting local researchers and infectious diseases experts so that they could carry out experiments to better combat COVID-19.
The health agency posted an announcement on its website today detailing the specifics of the research, asking for cooperation from corporate, medical and academic communities.
A total of 457 million won is expected to be invested in the research.■
