Boramae Medical Center introduces “glove-wall” system for COVID-19
The Boramae Medical Center run by Seoul National University Hospital has begun a new coronavirus testing system to prevent transmission of infections from patients to health care workers.

The so-called Glove-Wall system employs a clear, acrylic wall to separate physical space between medical staff and patients.

To secure a sample from a person, medical personnel put their hands into gloves attached to the wall to reach the patient standing on the other side.

This frees medical staff from wearing heavy protective gear while also saving time and resources lost when they have to change protective suits between virus tests.

The Glove-Wall testing booths, which were first introduced at Boramae Medical Center last month, are being employed by public hospitals and health care centers throughout Seoul.■
