Visitors to Yeouido Hangang Park practice social distancing
The government has stressed the need to further extend social distancing guidelines considering the novel coronavirus outbreak in the country is showing no signs of letting up.
Earlier, South Korea announced that distancing measures will be in place through Sunday.
But Kim Gang-lip, deputy head of the Central Disaster Management Headquarters, told reporters Wednesday that such guidelines should continue for the time being.
He noted that small clusters of infections are popping up at hospital and religious facilities, calling the fact that there hasn't been a slowdown in confirmed cases regrettable.
Kim said the public should not be careless even if they feel restless about staying at home for a long period of time.■
