Waiting area for those with symptoms at Rome airport
A Korean national who returned to the country from coronavirus-stricken Italy Wednesday has tested positive for the disease.
The patient was part of a group of 309 people who were airlifted from Milan on a government-chartered plane.
Kim Gang-lip, deputy head of the Central Disaster Management Headquarters, told reporters that 11 evacuees showed symptoms and only one tested positive.
The other Korean nationals have been placed at a temporary facility for testing.
A second batch of 205 evacuees from Rome arrived in South Korea this afternoon.
All of them will be sent to a facility for five days to be tested.
If anyone tests positive, all will be subject to 14 days of mandatory quarantine, but if all test negative, they will be required to self-isolate at home for two weeks.■
