A total of 126 countries have expressed interest in either importing South Korean-made coronavirus test kits or receiving them as part of humanitarian aid.
According to the foreign ministry, among the requests received as of Tuesday, 36 countries have sought to purchase test kits under commercial contracts while 28 have requested aid.
The remainder are looking to obtain supplies through both commercial contracts and aid programs.
The ministry said 26 countries so far have directly contacted Korean companies to purchase the equipment.
South Korea has garnered recognition for its diagnostic capabilities, quarantine efforts and medical infrastructure, which has helped drop its daily new COVID-19 infections below 50 in recent days, with a relatively low fatality rate.■
