President Moon Jae-in in a fourth session of the emergency economic council
President Moon Jae-in has announced another economic relief plan aimed at helping revive exports and domestic demand amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking at a fourth session of the emergency economic council at Cheong Wa Dae on Wednesday, Moon said the government will offer at least 36 trillion won of additional trade finance to domestic exporters suffering a heavy blow due to the collapse of global supply chains.
President Moon also said it will spend 17.7 trillion won to boost domestic consumption.
In addition, Moon announced a "special measure" to ease 12 trillion won of tax burdens on some 7 million small business owners and freelancers.
He then called for efforts to turn the recent crisis into an opportunity.
The latest relief package follows a series of massive aid programs announced late last month, which include 100 trillion won of emergency financial support for conglomerates and smaller firms.■
