President Moon Jae-in
President Moon Jae-in has emphasized the need to protect jobs amid the coronavirus pandemic.
In a meeting with top business leaders in Seoul Thursday, the president noted that South Korea has turned crises into opportunities in the past.
Moon then said he is confident the country will be able to be "reborn as a power player in the digital economy era by overcoming the industrial crisis caused by the coronavirus."
Meeting participants included the heads of major firms in such industries as aviation, shipbuilding, automobile, machinery and communication.
President Moon added the government is accelerating efforts to support skilled manpower in new industries, including artificial intelligence, drones and future vehicles.
